When I look at the work of Matisse or any of the other artists of the Fauvist[*] movement, I marvel at the courage to paint in such a radical style. Can I live my own life in such a radical manner? Do I have the courage to apply creativity to my life as a means to overcome adversity? Maybe, but I am leaning to yes. Being disabled doesn’t have to be the end – it is just another beginning… the beginning of radical creativity, acceptance, and gratitude. I can.
